Concerned youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have expressed regret that the opposition party has become a subject of ridicule because of the way the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has violated the constitution and disrespected the rule of law in the state.

The coordinator of the group, Hon. Gwalson Mutshak in a statement in Jos at the weekend alleged that Governor Caleb Mutfwang  had continued to disrespect the electoral process and the constitution by refusing to accept the verdict of the election petitions tribunal.

But the special adviser to the governor on strategic  communications, Hon. Timothy Golu, said the governor had not in any way interfered in the affairs of the House, saying, “But another injunction, unknown to many, obtained by 13 Labour Party aspirants from the same election has restrained the speaker from doing so.”

According  to Mutshak’s statement, the governor formulated his own conditions of executing the decision of the tribunal by making it mandatory for the 16  APC members to write an undated letter of resignation with an affidavit before they are sworn in.

“This action is very undemocratic particularly that is coming from a person who himself, is a product of democracy as well as the rule of law.

“As things stand out now, six members of the APC who have refused to be coerced into that unwholesome condition of signing their resignation letters as a precondition for their swearing in are still being denied being sworn in by the  speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan.

“Unfortunately, the action of the governor has deprived six constituencies voice in the House of Assembly for nearly seven months since they won their cases at the tribunal,” Mutshak added.
