In a statement signed by Mr. Osita Kalu, a member of the PDP presidential/governorship media committee and made available to LEADERSHIP said that the present administration has also placed the state as the poorest state in the South East with over 76 per cent poverty rate.

Kalu maintained that the above issues will influence the people during the 2023 election not zoning adding that APC and its candidate does not understand the issues of civil servants recruitment and promotions and thus incapable of addressing them.

Kalu was reacting to a statement credited to the chairman of APC in the state, Mr. Stanley Emegha on the emergence of Mr. Ifeanyichukwuma Odii’s as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.

Emegha while briefing Journalist at the weekend said that voters in the state will vote based on the principle of zoning, equity and credibility.

Emegha said, “How can intelligent and ever conscious Ebonyi people allow a man who hails from almost the same local government area with the present Governor,  David Umahi, succeed him in office? The people are wiser now”.

But Kalu maintained that the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed Odii as the PDP governorship candidate in the state has become the greatest nightmare of the ruling APC in the state.

He said he won’t be surprised if the APC now decides to employ the greatest form of violence and thuggery to scare away voters as they know that their end has finally come upon them.

He argued that zoning doesn’t equate competence and a people-oriented leadership.
