He won the PDP primary election held in Kaura-Namoda South local government area of the state.

Addressing journalists after the election, Kurya expressed appreciation to the 18 delegates who voted in the election and extended his appreciation to the other three contestants who withdrew from the contest.

He said he would work with the party leaders and members to ensure it emerge victorious at the election.

Addressing journalists after the PDP candidate emerged, the state party secretary Naziru Ibrahim Rufa’i expressed his happiness on the conduct of the primary and thanked the PDP delegates who came from the party’s national headquarters to witness it.
