Leadership of the People’s Democratic Party Youth Vanguard in the North West region has applauded the United States (US) Court for ordering the immediate release of Chicago State University documents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the claimant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

After a caucus meeting in Kaduna yesterday, the group’s coordinator Hon. Ibrahim Ahmadu said the US has always led in democracy and that has been justified in the consistent rulings of the US courts over a matter of key interest in Nigeria’s democracy.

Ahmadu said the legal pressure mounted on the US court is to ensure justice is served based on merits.

He maintained that with the exposure in the CSU documents now, the ruling party has lost out.

“Our Nigerian Jurists can now take a clue on deciding matters on merits and not sacrificing justice on the altar of technicalities’ ‘ Ahmadu added.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who was the PDP’s flag bearer in the February 25 presidential election approached a US Court on July 11, 2023, to obtain more information on Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University.

The documents sought by Atiku, through his attorney, Angela Liu, included records of Tinubu’s admission and acceptance at the university and dates of attendance, including degrees, awards, and honours he obtained while studying at the American school.
