The minister who stated this in Kuje yesterday while flagging off a 5 Kilometer rural road in Kuje area council under the FCT Satellites Town Development Agency of the FCT administration, noted that the slow pace of work on the airport road shows unseriousness on the part of the contractor.

Wike also warned the company handling the construction of the five kilometers road to work within the specified time, that his administration will not entertain any excuse for failure to deliver on the set time to handover the projects.

The Minister also the residents of Kuje, that his administration was not only concentrating on roads constructions, that in two weeks’ time, FCT Administration under his watch would flag off total rehabilitation of over 40 classrooms of schools in FCT, as well as hospitals and the completion of most of abandoned projects that littered the federal capital city.

He however called for the cooperation of the grass-root in rooting out insecurity, underdevelopment, unemployment, poverty, hunger and other challenges, facing the residents of the federal capital, with appreciation to President Tinubu’s support to change the face of FCT

Wike maintained that as soon as President Bola Tinubu returns to the country, his administration will send its statutory budget for the National Assembly approval, while thanking the National Assembly for the support received so far from the federal legislators through their committees on FCT matters.

The Minister of state for FCT, Mariya Mahmoud in her message at the flag off noted that the road construction which is aimed at enhancing productivity, generating employment will also help to build local community inclusiveness to unlock the grass root potentials.

Mahmoud noted that the road project is a testament of Tinubu’s administrations towards improving rural infrastructures at satellite towns, area councils which she said is not limited to area councils alone but the entire country.

Earlier, Chief Patrick Akinboye Ojo, a developer working with FCTA in different capacity, advisory and consultancy bases and developer explained that the people of Kuje have long awaited the project.

“We are impressed and happy that the minister, out of his busy schedule is able to come here, because we know everywhere he goes and makes a promise and intentions known, it will definitely come to pass. For that reason we are waiting in anticipation to hear from the working minister.

“We have seen what he has done in other places, especially within the FCT city centre where a lot of projects has been going on. So it is now our turn in Kuje. The project will impact tremendously on the people of Kuje.

“From here to Gwagwalada should be less than seven minutes drive but the traffic congestion in this area make it way longer than that. So the project, when completed will decongest this road and will by effect also allow free floe of traffic along the Airport Road,” he said.
