Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Shindol Aaron has appealed to the three tiers of government to prioritise the welfare of persons with disabilities.

Aaron made the call while speaking to our correspondent in Jos yesterday.

According to him, if you want to gauge how a society is faring, the interests of persons with disabilities should be top on the agenda.

He added that they need to be given space to thrive and the opportunity to contribute their quota to the growth of society.

“In terms of education and job opportunities, we should also be given equal opportunities to showcase our ability,” he said.

He challenged members of the association to always be visible in the political space and to come out in large numbers to vote for candidates of their choice.

“We have a large population. If put to vote, we can also determine who comes on board,” he said.

Aaron also denied knowledge of ransom payment before two of his members recently kidnapped in Riyom LGA were released.

He said, “Let me confirm from the family so that we all can be on the same page.”

The chairman further said after their release, both had returned to their families. The lady is still in Jos, while the young man has returned to his family members in Kanke.
