Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has held a closed-door meeting with Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

The high-level engagement came days after a major summit of opposition parties held in the Oyo State capital at the weekend, where prominent opposition political figures and stakeholders from across Nigeria converged to deliberate on the future of opposition politics ahead of 2027 elections.

Sources familiar with the development said the meeting formed part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening opposition unity and exploring possible strategic alliances ahead of future political contests.

While the exact agenda of the meeting had not been made public as of the time of filing this report, insiders described the discussions as critical to shaping the next phase of opposition collaboration.

LEADERSHIP reports that the meeting followed Obi’s earlier engagement with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in Abuja, in what observers believed was part of a series of high-level consultations linked to emerging national political realignments.
