Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, Luther Vandross, And Shakira Receive Rock Hall Nominations

Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, Luther Vandross, Shakira, Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, and INXS were among the pop stars nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2026.

The broad category also covers: rap, metal, R&B, hip-hop, Britpop, blues rock and pop.

The Hall released on Wednesday the list of 17 performer nominees, which also includes Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, the Wu-Tang Clan, the Black Crowes, Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, and Billy Idol, for the 2026 nominees.

Phil Collins, amid health struggles, made the list. And fans say it is well deserved. Collin’s songs have remained timeless, spanning decades and still waxing strong. The singer, who is already in the Hall as a member of Genesis and had hit solo singles such as “In the Air Tonight” and “One More Night,” has won eight Grammys, including album of the year in 1985 for “No Jacket Required.”

Other superstars, like Mariah Carey, who was nominated in 2024 and 2025, have had 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Lauryn Hill’s “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” left its footprints in time as the first hip-hop album to win the Grammy for album of the year in 1999.

Meanwhile, soul-jazz singer Sade Adu, also nominated in 2024, had hits like “Smooth Operator” and “The Sweetest Taboo.”

INXS dominated the late 1980s charts with hits like “Need You Tonight,” “Devil Inside”, and “New Sensation.”

The Wu-Tang Clan have been praised as rap innovators since their revolutionary 1993 debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang.”

The heavy metal band Iron Maiden helped fuel the new wave of British heavy metal with famed albums like “The Number of the Beast.”
