Patients at Warri Central Hospital were treated to a heartwarming surprise as the founder of the Florence Tonlagha World Changer Foundation, Mrs Florence Tonlagha, distributed relief materials and cash valued at over N500,000 to support those undergoing treatment at the facility.
The gesture, which took place in Warri, Delta State, saw Mrs Tonlagha interacting with patients and caregivers, offering words of encouragement alongside essential supplies.
The items included beverages, diapers, sanitary pads, toiletries, and cash support aimed at alleviating some of the financial strain faced by families amid prevailing economic challenges.
Speaking during the presentation, Tonlagha said the outreach was driven by her unwavering commitment to giving back to society. “I believe strongly in supporting humanity in my own little way,” she stated.
“A hospital visit can be emotionally and financially draining for families. If these items and the cash support can ease their burden, even slightly, then we have achieved our purpose.”
Some beneficiaries, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed gratitude to the foundation for remembering them in their time of need.
A caregiver at the hospital described the donation as timely, noting that many patients struggle to afford basic necessities beyond medical bills.
According to hospital staff, such interventions go a long way in boosting patients’ morale and complementing healthcare delivery.
Tonlagha, a Delta State based philanthropist, has consistently demonstrated her passion for humanitarian service.
Over the years, she has donated relief materials to widows, provided scholarships to indigent students, and supplied educational materials to underprivileged schools across Delta State, reinforcing her commitment to bridging the poverty gap and empowering vulnerable groups.
The latest outreach, she explained, forms part of her foundation’s broader vision to impact lives meaningfully, particularly in the healthcare and education sectors.
“We cannot do everything at once, but together, we can touch lives one community at a time,” Tonlagha added.
