The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), has dislodged over 1,000 miscreants on the corridor of Inner Northern parkway, off Abidjan Street in Wuse Zone 3 of the nation’s capital city Abuja.

Coordinator of AMMC, Felix Obuah, after the clean-up exercise on Wednesday, said dislodging the miscreants was part of the current administration’s commitment to beautifying the capital city.

Obuah, who said chasing out the suspected criminals would give the Federal Capital City (FCC) the desired outlook, explained that the council would make a memo to the minister of FCT on the steps to be taken so that the dislodged people would not return to the areas.

“As a matter of fact, we should appreciate what the minister of FCT is doing, our aim is to beautify the city and make Abuja one of the cities that you can be proud of in the whole world.

“This place is a road corridor, and look at the level of people that are occupying this place, all shanties, most of these criminals have taken over this place as their abode. So, by our wisdom, we have decided to come here and clean up the place and reclaim it, and give Abuja the desired outlook,” he said.

He explained that the FCT minister will not delay to move into action, adding that, “The minister as we all know will immediately move into action and see that this road is constructed like he is doing to other roads in FCT.

“As part of our efforts to make sure that these miscreants don’t come back here to deface the city, our intention is to make sure that we relocate them to a place that they can stay permanently than coming to deface the city.

“We are going to make a memo to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory to see how far we can go, to make sure that this crowd is controlled.

“From what we have seen here, the people residing here are many, if we can relocate them within a short possible time, it will make them not to come back here again.

“We are going to send a task force here to ensure that no body build a shanty any longer in this environment, but we are going to make provision for them so that they won’t suffer undue hardship, without immediate measures in place they will go to other places and cause nuisance there too,” he said.

One of the affected persons and chairman of the area identified as Ungwan Lambu, Mohammed Musa, said they had been staying in the place for 27 years, which he claimed was occasioned by insecurity in their state of origin.

He appreciated the government for allowing them to reside in the area, and urged the FCT Administration to make new provision for them.

“Most of us are here because of insecurity in our state of origin, we need help,” Musa stated.
