Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has visited the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at the latter’s private residence in Uyo, the State capital, after the announcement of his (Eno) defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.

This was disclosed by Akpabio, who took to his verified Facebook page to announce the development shortly after the visit. The Senate President described Eno’s decision as ‘historic’ even as he welcomed the governor to the ruling APC.

“It is with utmost joy that I received our governor, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, his deputy, Akon Eyakenyi, All Progressives Congress Governors led by the chairman of the Forum, Hope Uzodimma and other stakeholders of our party, at my residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after the historic defection of my brother, Governor Eno, members of the State Executive Council, Federal and State lawmakers, as well as council chairmen into the Progressives’ family.

“Thank you Mr Governor for having the interest of our people at heart. Congratulations and welcome to the fold,” Akpabio said.

LEADERSHIP reports that eight APC governors, who earlier witnessed Governor Eno’s announcement, were part of the delegation to Akpabio’s home. They included the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State; Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State; Bassey Otu of Cross River State; Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State; Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo State.
