Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has undertook a late night emergency visit to Lagos following the fire incident at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

LEADERSHIP reports the fire incident on Monday evening had caused pandemonium at the Nigeria’s busiest airport.

Taking his verified social media handles in the wee hours of Tuesday, Keyamo said he arrived at the airport at about 12 midnight and joined the Managing Director and management team of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who were still actively coordinating response efforts to ensure the fire was totally put out.

He commended FAAN workers and first responders, who helped to put the situation under control, thereby safeguarding lives and limiting the impact of the incident.

The Minister said he would return to the airport at dawn for proper assessment of the situation and further directives.
