An Islamic funeral prayer without the corpse physically present known as Ga’ib has been observed for the repose of the soul of late billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano, on Saturday afternoon.
LEADERSHIP reports that Dantata died at the age of 94 in the wee hours of Saturday in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and his body was transported to Madina, Saudi Arabia, for burial according to his wish before his passing.
The Ga’ib prayer was led by the chairman of the Kano State Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, and it was attended by a mammoth crowd of Kano people, including the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and Commandant General of Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa.
The prayer was observed at the Umar bn Khattab mosque, along Zaria Road, Gyadi-gyadi, Kano.
Other attendees at the funeral prayer included members of Kano State Executive Council, among many other dignitaries from the business community and others.
