The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has made a case for Ogbomoso kingdom in Oyo State to be a leading hub for information technology and digital innovation, driven by youth capacity building, innovation, and strong strategic partnerships.
Oba Ghandi made the call on Thursday during a courtesy visit to Galaxy Backbone headquarters on Abuja in company of some prominent Ogbomoso sons.
Disclosing the visit via his verified Facebook page on Friday, the Ogbomoso monarch noted that it was deeply encouraging to observe a strong alignment of purpose, as the Executive Director and the management team of Galaxy Backbone expressed clear enthusiasm and readiness to collaborate in translating the vision into reality.
The meeting also recognised the immense strategic advantage of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in fast-tracking Ogbomoso’s digital transformation, particularly in equipping the youths with future-ready digital skills.
He wrote: “Yesterday, I paid a courtesy visit to Galaxy Backbone in the company of Dr. Niran Oyekale and Prof. Adeshola Adepoju, the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland. During the visit, I had the privilege of meeting the Managing Director/CEO, Prof. Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, an illustrious son of Ogbomosoland, alongside his highly dedicated management team.
“We were warmly received, and the engagement proved both insightful and inspiring. I articulated a bold vision to position Ogbomoso as a leading hub for information technology and digital innovation, driven by youth capacity building, innovation, and strong strategic partnerships. It was deeply encouraging to observe a strong alignment of purpose, as the Executive Director and the management team expressed clear enthusiasm and readiness to collaborate in translating this vision into reality.
“Our discussions also highlighted the impactful roles of the Assembly and SQI, as well as the immense strategic advantage of LAUTECH in fast-tracking Ogbomoso’s digital transformation, particularly in equipping our youths with future-ready digital skills.
“Following the meeting, we were taken on a guided tour of their operations. From the robustness of their systems and structures to their openness to collaboration, one message stood out clearly: Ogbomoso is ready. The future is digital, and by God’s grace, we are poised to lead, not follow.”
