PICTORIAL: Police Arrest 2 Over Alleged Vandalism, Theft In Bauchi

Operative of the Bauchi State Police Command have apprehended two suspects for their alleged links to the vandalism and theft of state government assets worth millions of Naira at ongoing project sites.

The arrested suspects include a 26-year-old truck driver, Ibrahim Mohammed Inuwa and a 17-year-old resident of Karofin Madak, Ukasha Abdulmalik.

The two were caught red-handed on December 5, 2024 while loading a stolen concrete kerbs belonging to Bauchi State Government into a truck.

Spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a statement said the arrest was led by SP David Silas who oversees the Command’s Works Department and in conjunction with Bauchi State Ministry of works.

SP Wakil said Ibrahim, the principal suspect, claimed that he purchased the stolen concrete kerbs for an astonishing price of N350 each from two unidentified individuals along Emir’s Drive, Bauchi.

“He (Ibrahim) used his truck to transport them to his residence,” Wakil added.

The spokesman said the police are actively pursuing the other suspects involved in this crime and are committed to bringing them to justice.

 

Meanwhile, police have recovered the truck and the stolen concrete kerbs as exhibits.

 

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, emphasised the Command’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against vandalism.

CP Mohammed assured the community that a thorough investigation was underway to ensure that the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.

 

The CP also urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
