PICTORIAL: Sanwo-Olu Leads Armed Forces Remembrance Day Ceremony In Lagos

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State played a prominent role in the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath Laying ceremony held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu inspected the guard of honour alongside Brigadier-General Adegoke Adetuyi, the Commander 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment. The ceremony, which took place on Monday, 15 January 2024, aimed to honour the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

During the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu laid a wreath as a symbolic gesture of respect and remembrance for the fallen heroes who dedicated their lives to the service of the nation.

The wreath-laying ceremony was a solemn moment, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, and CP Adegoke Fayoade, the State Commissioner of Police.

In addition to the traditional parade and wreath-laying, Governor Sanwo-Olu released pigeons as a symbolic act to commemorate the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The Governor was joined by key figures, including Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and Oba of Lagos represented by Opeluwa Onido of Lagos, High Chief Lateef Ajose.

The event brought together notable military figures such as Brigadier-General Adegoke Adetuyi, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Yaro Abdullahi, Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, and Major General Muhammad Usman.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s active participation in the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony reflects the state’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces and remembering the heroes who served the nation with distinction.
