The Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development has inspected and certified the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, as fit for for the anticipated arrival of President Bola Tinubu in Ibadan later within the week.
LEADERSHIP reports that President Tinubu is scheduled to attend the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen) Rasheed Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Numerous guests from within and outside Nigeria are expected to grace the historic occasion slated for Friday, September 26, 2025, at the equally historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
Announcing the development via his Facebook page on Wednesday, chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development and Senator representing Oyo North senatorial zone, Buhari Abdulfatah, said the Airport Upgrade Committee members were on ground to show him the various work done on the terminal, tarmac and runways, certifying the the readiness of the facility for the arrival of President Tinubu and other dignitaries coming to Ibadan for the coronation ceremony.
“This morning, i inspected the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport renovation and upgrade being done by the Oyo State Government in my capacity as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development in preparedness of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu attendance at the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen) Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“The Airport upgrade committee was on ground to show me the various work done on the terminal, tarmac and runways. I certified the readiness of the airport for the arrival of Mr. President and other dignitaries coming to Ibadan for the coronation ceremony,” Senator Abdulfatah stated.
