Nigerian Army troops have eliminated a notorious terrorist, arrested 22 cattle, recovered 150 cows, and weapons in Kaduna and Plateau States.

A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official social media handles on Friday, said troops
on Thursday, September 26, 2024, acting on actionable intelligence, engaged fleeing terrorists under the cover of darkness near Gayam Village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.

The statement said the troops, during the encounter, killed one notorious terrorist while the others fled in panic, abandoning their weapons.

Following a thorough search of the area, the troops recovered AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two motorcycles and a mobile phone.

In another operation, troops following credible intelligence regarding the movement of rustled cattle by terrorist collaborators, laid an ambush along the Karau Karau-Galadimawa road where they arrested 18 suspects linked to the rustling of 150 cattle, being transported in four trucks.

The statement said further investigations uncovered damning evidence, including 10 mobile phones—some containing videos of terrorists receiving training—and the sum of N215,550 in cash.

Relatedly, troops in Plateau State also intercepted four suspects conveying three rustled cows in Barkin Ladi local government area of the State.

Also, Troops in Kaura local government area of Kaduna State, acting on intelligence, stormed a private clinic where wounded terrorists were receiving treatment and arrested two suspects, believed to be members of the late notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Tukur Sharme’s gang. “They confessed to sustaining gunshot wounds during an earlier clash with Nigerian troops,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, in Borno State, troops raided a terrorist hideout in the Churchur area of Bama local government area of the state, killed one terrorist and rescued a kidnap victim.
In the same vein, troops along the Bama-Maiduguri road intercepted a vehicle loaded with empty ammunition cases.

Following a thorough search, the troops recovered 82 empty cases of 7.62mm ammunition, five empty cases of 7.62x39mm, two empty cases of 7.62x54mm, two empty cases of 12.7x108mm and 27 rolls of copper wire.

The statement added that eight terrorist fighters, along with their families, surrendered to the troops in Bama.

Whereas, in Rivers State, troops intercepted a suspected kidnapper at Cool Beach Jetty in Bonny local government area of the State in possession of a pistol loaded with 9mm ammunition and a packet of substances believed to be cannabis.

Similarly, in Enugu State, troops acting on human intelligence arrested three suspected criminals hiding under a bridge in the Abakpa area of Enugu local government area.

Items recovered from the suspects include; 12 mobile phones, three cutlasses, four power banks, a shisha pot, a cocaine inhaler and other illicit materials.

Again, in Benue State, troops swiftly responded to a terrorist attack on Nigerian Police personnel at Sankara Chito Junction in Ukum local government area of the State.

According to the statement, troops’ superior firepower forced the terrorists to flee, leaving behind their weapons and logistics. The recovered items include; Light Machine Gun, 100 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and two motorcycles.
