PICTORIAL: Windstorm Kills 4 At Bauchi Trade Fair Complex

Heavy rains and wind have killed at least four persons at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Square in Bauchi metropolis of Bauchi Stateon Saturday night.

LEADERSHIP reports that the IBB Square hosted the just-concluded North-East Joint Trade Fair. Similarly, the windstorm damaged Gombe and Yobe State pavilions and several business tents within the complex.

Confirming the incident to journalists on Sunday, spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, identified deceased to include Abdullahi Abubakar, a 38-year-old resident of Bauchi; Ahmed Alfa; Malam Musa, and Abdul’aziz Abdulrahman, from Gombe State.

“However, one individual, Fatima Isa, is currently receiving medical treatment and showing positive signs of recovery.

“The authorities have taken the necessary steps, including depositing the deceased individuals at the mortuary, to address the aftermath of the storm,” he said.

SP Wakil also said efforts were underway to assess the extent of damage caused by the storm, adding that to ensure public safety, Police presence will be maintained at the square to prevent criminal activities in the wake of the unfortunate event.
