Temi Ajibade, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, and her husband, popular musician Tosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, have spoken about the pressure and disagreements they experienced while planning their lavish wedding ceremonies.
The couple shared their experience in a snippet from their podcast, ‘The How Far Pod’, posted on their Instagram page on Sunday. They revealed that organising three-destination wedding within a three-month period took a significant toll on them.
Reflecting on the experience, Temi described the schedule as overwhelming. “Three weddings within three months is insane, especially when they are destination events,” she said. Mr Eazi added that, at the time they were still preparing for yet another ceremony.
Mr Eazi explained that the original plan was to have a quiet and simple court wedding in Nigeria. However, he noted that the idea of privacy soon became unrealistic. As an alternative, a friend suggested bringing court officials to their residence for a private civil ceremony.
“I thought it was a cool idea, but you were like, ‘No, you’re not having that,’” Mr Eazi recalled. Temi clarified that she was not entirely opposed to the suggestion, but expressed satisfaction that they eventually chose her preferred option — Monaco — as the location for their civil wedding.
Explaining why they did not opt for the United Kingdom, Temi said it did not hold enough personal meaning for her. “It didn’t feel like a true link or a real reason. Even Monaco was more sentimental,” she said.
Mr Eazi also admitted that the most surprising part of the process was the amount of administrative work involved. “I thought getting married was just deciding to get married and going to court to sign papers. I didn’t realise there was a mountain of administration behind it,” he said.
