PLASIEC Pegs Nomination Fees For Chairmanship, Councillorship Polls

Ahead of the October 9 local government election, the Plateau State Independence Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has pegged the cost of nomination form for the chairmanship position at N1.2 million while the councillorship form costs N500,000.

PLASIEC public relations officer, Koro Yakubu, said the forms would be provided free of charge for people living with disabilities.

She said the cost limit was a  reflection of the current economic realities in the country.

The opposition parties however described the fees as unreasonable. APC chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, countered PLASIEC’s position, saying the fees were beyond the reach of the opposition parties.
