Plateau Governorship Aspirant Biggs Faults Mutfwang’s Performance, Calls For Stronger Leadership

A Plateau State governorship aspirant, Sunday Garba Biggs, has criticised the performance of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, saying the state requires stronger leadership to address insecurity, economic hardship and underdevelopment.

Biggs, who spoke during an interaction with journalists in Jos, said expectations were high when Mutfwang assumed office due to broad-based support across ethnic and religious lines, but argued that many residents were now dissatisfied with governance outcomes.

He said leadership must be assessed strictly on performance rather than sentiment or political affiliation.

“Leadership is about responsibility, not sentiment or personal attachment,” he said.

The aspirant maintained that no public office holder should remain in power without delivering measurable results.

He also argued that the governorship position for the Central Zone was part of an arrangement to complete an eight-year rotational cycle, insisting that it was allocated to Mangu Local Government Area.

“This job was given to the Central Zone, and the Central Zone slot was given to Mangu. I am here to complete the remaining tenure for Mangu and the Central Zone,” he said.

Biggs also expressed concern over what he described as the underdevelopment of Mangu despite producing the governor, saying residents expected more visible impact.

He stressed that the next leader from the area must be chosen based on competence and capacity rather than ethnic or political considerations.

“This is not about kinship. It is about the pedigree and capacity of the individual to perform,” he added.

On his political ambition, Biggs said he possesses the experience and leadership capacity required to reposition Plateau State, adding that his administration would prioritise security, jobs and infrastructure.

He pledged to tackle insecurity, unemployment and infrastructural deficits while promoting inclusive governance and economic opportunities for youths, women, farmers and businesses.

Biggs also declared support for zoning arrangements, promising to serve only one term of four years if elected in order to complete the Central Zone’s tenure rotation.

He called for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that internal disagreements would be resolved through legal and electoral processes.

“PDP is still one. The fact that some people belong to one group or another does not mean they are no longer PDP members,” he said.

He urged citizens to set aside divisions and support efforts aimed at building a peaceful and prosperous Plateau State, while calling on his supporters under the “BiggThingsComing” movement to remain peaceful and focused ahead of the 2027 elections.
