Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB) has directed the immediate closure of schools across the state.
A statement issued in Jos yesterday by the management of the board said Government Junior Model Secondary Schools (GJMSSs) would be closed today.
PSUBEB further stated that primary and day schools would close on Monday, November 24, adding that the decision was in line with the urgent need for preventive action.
The board assured parents, guardians and stakeholders that this closure is temporary but necessary step to forestall potential threats and reassure communities that the government was prioritising the well-being of our learners.
PSUBEB also called on all local government education authorities, school administrators, and community leaders to cooperate fully with this directive and remain vigilant.
Similarly, the Kebbi State government through the ministry of basic and secondary education has ordered the immediate closure of some boarding schools in troubled areas of the state following the recent abduction of schoolgirls from GGCSS Maga in Danko/Wasagu local government area.
Though there was no official statement or press briefing regarding the closure our reporter gathered that boarding schools in troubled local government areas were closed indefinitely to prevent the invasion of another school by terrorists.
The Katsina State government also ordered the immediate closure of all public schools across the state due to rising security concerns.
The directive was issued yesterday by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
