Former deputy speaker House of Representatives and member representing Wase federal constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Idris Maje Wase has commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu for approving the immediate deployment of Intervention Battalion of 300 Special Forces to Bashar Chiefdom in Wase LGA of Plateau State.
Bashar Chiefdom has been under persistent attacks by bandits, kidnapping for ransom, killing locals and security personnel on duty in the process.
The over 170 troops who arrived the military base in Bashar yesterday night are expected to aggressively and decisively deal with the recent resurgence of banditry attacks in the area.
LEADERSHIP reports that on hearing the arrival of the troops, large number of women and school children who are mostly victims of bandits attacks gathered at the palace of Rekna Bashar.
