Police Arrest 11 Suspects Over Killing Of 2 Students In Kano Boarding School

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 students of Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, in connection with their alleged involvement in the killing of two fellow students in the school.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that the students were apprehended to aid investigation and determine the level of the involvement of each suspect in the incident.

According to him, “Eleven students have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigation is ongoing to establish the role each of them played.”

SP Kiyawa further assured that the police would do everything possible to uncover the truth and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, on Wednesday, July 16, ordered a thorough investigation into the deaths of the students.

The deceased students, Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, were allegedly assaulted with improvised metal objects locally called “Gwale-Gwale.”

The attack was reportedly carried out by senior students who accused the victims of committing an undisclosed offence and decided to punish them.
