Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command attached to the ‘B’ Division, GRA Bauchi, have arrested two suspects in connection with criminal conspiracy, disturbance of public peace, and malicious damage following an attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat in Bauchi.
It would be recalled that LEADERSHIP reported that suspected political thugs, on 24 May 2026, attacked the venue of a governorship declaration event organised by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction of the PDP in Bauchi State, vandalising vehicles and injuring some party members.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the Police received a report on 24 May 2026, that unidentified persons had stormed the PDP Secretariat located along the Maiduguri Bypass while the party’s governorship primary election was ongoing.
According to the statement, the intruders disrupted public peace, vandalised campaign banners of a PDP governorship aspirant, and damaged the windscreens of several vehicles parked along the roadside before fleeing the scene on motorcycles.
The Police said that following the incident, which attracted widespread attention on social media, intelligence and investigative measures were immediately activated, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
The suspects were identified as Hamza Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dawa,” of the area behind the Old Airport, Bauchi, and Abdul Malik Dahiru, alias “Black,” of Doya Area, Bauchi.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Bauchi State Command, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigation, they will be charged in court accordingly,” SP Nafiu stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, warned against acts capable of breaching public peace and causing property destruction, particularly during political activities.
He assured residents that the Command remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens and will not tolerate any form of violence, political thuggery, or criminality.
The Police further urged members of the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
