Police Arrest 22-year Old Lady Over Alleged Self-Kidnap, N3m Ransom Payment In Anambra

Luck has ran out against a 22-year-old lady, identified as Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing, as a team of operatives of the Anambra state police command arrest her in connection with an alleged case of fraud, conspiracy, self-kidnapping, and, N3 million ransom payment by her family.

Public relations officer of the state police command (PPRO), superintendent of police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement on Sunday said the suspect was arrested by a team of operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, following credible intelligence received in the course of an investigation into a reported kidnapping incident.

Ikenga said the lady was allegedly abducted along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on 29th August 2026.

He said despite the alleged payment of N3 million ransom by her family, she was not released, prompting further investigation by the Police.

The state police command’s image-maker said that following sustained intelligence gathering and investigative efforts, police operatives, in the afternoon of 18th September 2026, traced and located the suspect in a room in Asaba, Delta State, where she was recovered.

He said that preliminary investigation indicated that the lady allegedly conspired with a female associate whose name was simple given as Onyinye,and, another male accomplice, whose identity was yet unknown, to stage her own kidnapping and obtaining money from her family.

Ikenga said that the suspect is currently assisting the police with useful information towards establishing the full circumstances of her alleged kidnap, payment of N3 million ransom, as well as, identifying and apprehending her alleged accomplices.

The state commissioner of police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, according to the command’s spokesperson had already directed that the investigation be intensified to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all persons found culpable were brought to justice in accordance with the law.
