Police in Katsina State said they arrested 64 persons and recovered 693 bags of fertiliser during the violent protest in the state on Thursday.
The spokesman, Sadiq Aliyu, made this known to LEADERSHIP Sunday yesterday, saying no life was lost during the protest, but a government fertiliser warehouse was vandalised.
Katsina is now calm and peaceful since the acting governor, Faruq Lawal, declared a curfew and banned protests.
Police in Jigawa State also announced the arrest of 212 people suspected to be involved in destroying and looting public properties during the protest.
Commissioner of police A.T Abdullahi disclosed this to newsmen while speaking on measures taken to maintain law and order in the state.
He said 74 people were charged to court after the arrests.
