Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected gunrunners for allegedly manufacturing and supplying guns to armed robbers and kidnappers in the state.
The state’s police command said the arrest is related to the earlier recovery of a fabricated AK 47 revolver rifle recovered on June 8, 2024 where three persons were earlier arrested.
The arrested suspects are Tega Dierunaba, Chibiuke Anuforo Cosmas and Sunday Moses Pam.
Forty-four years old Dierunaba, ‘m’ is from Ororokpe Community in Okpe local government area of Delta State and a resident of Enehren area of Warri.
For his part, Cosmas, a 42-year-old man from Orlu Town in Nkwerre local government area of Imo State is a resident of Musheshe Cold-Room Industrial Area, Enehren Road in Warri and said to be distributor of supplied arms.
Pam, 36-year-old man of Von Community in Jos South local government area of Plateau State who is a resident of Oka Close, in Enehren area of Warri in Delta State.
The team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on the directive of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, arrested the trio on Tuesday July 16, 2024.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Bright Edafe who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday said that Pam “usually conceals and conveys the arms from Plateau State to Delta State.
“All suspects have admitted to the crime as confessed earlier by one Goodluck Sakutu m” 38yrs of Ekpan community, Uvwie LGA Delta state who was earlier arrested and one fabricated AK-47 rifle was recovered from him,” he said.
Edafe added that the suspects are in custody while investigation is ongoing.
