“The Command assures the public that justice will be served and urges anyone with useful information to come forward to assist with the investigation,” she stressed.

Barr. Udo, a key stakeholders of the party at Ward 1 of Nto Edino in Obot Akara local government area, was said to oppose to two parallel executives in the political party, was reportedly shot dead by some yet-to-be identified gunmen.

Announcing the passing of the party chieftain in a statement, the ADC Chairman, Nto Edino Ward 1, Comrade Udeme George said, “A factional leadership crisis has claimed the life of a lawyer and member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ekemini Udo, from Nto Edino Ward 1, in Obot Akara local government area of Akwa Ibom State, who was killed during a reported unauthorised factional meeting of the party”.

George said report of a fact-finding committee set up by the party with the chairman of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Hon. Frank Essiet as head, revealed that “the crisis became exacerbated during an unauthorised meeting held by a factional group within the ADC in Nto Inyang village, Nto Edino ward 1, Obot Akara LGA on Wednesday, October 14, 2025.

“A heated argument erupted during the meeting over the factional leadership within the ADC in Akwa Ibom State.
The deceased, Ekemini Udo challenged the legitimacy of the factional exco, questioning their authority to operate”, the statement added.

The statement alleged that the convener of the meeting ordered his supporters to descend on the deceased lawyer for daring to question their authority before descending on him and dealth several machete cuts on him, which led to his death two days later.

“And from our findings, none of the key actors in the crisis are listed in the membership register of the ADC in Nto Edino ward 1, not even in Obot Akara chapter of the party, meaning the assailants may have been imported for the special assignment,” the statement noted.
