Police Arrest 32 Criminals For Terrorising Benue Communities

Benue State Police command has arrested 32 suspects for terrorizing communities in the last two weeks and recovered several arms and ammunitions

The police commissioner, George Chuku who disclosed this in a briefing in Makurdi informed that the 30 suspects were arrested across the state for committing varying crimes.

According to him, “On the December 1, 2023 at about 7pm, information was received that while the parents of Oryina, a young boy of 8 years were away from home, a neighbour, one Abara Ehas, 24 years old male lured the child to an uncompleted building In area and had carnal knowledge of the child.

“The child has been taken to hospital for treatment while the suspect has been arraigned in court for prosecution.”

He also said, in another development, the CP said: “on December 2, 2023 at about 11am, Mark Akpobari, 27 years old man of River State origin, a corps member at Wanune Orientation Camp was on his way to Port-Harcourt when he came in contact with Iji Joseph at Wurukum, Makurdi.

“The said Joseph raised an alarm that the corps member stole his genital organ which attracted a nearby mob that attacked the corps member and beat him to pulp, however a patrol team intervened and rescued him.

“The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment while the suspect has been arraigned in court for defamation of character and assault”.
