Police Arrest 4 Suspects, Recover 300 Rounds Of Ammunition In Kaduna

Kaduna State Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered 300 rounds of live ammunition and three locally made firearms in separate operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement he issued yesterday. he said the arrests were made in Makarfi, Gwantu and Giwa local government areas.

Hassan said detectives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence on 22nd September, 2026, arrested two suspects identified as Rayyanu Adamu and Nasiru Abubakar over the alleged illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition around Giwa local government area and the Railway Station axis of Kaduna State.

He said a search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of 270 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 30 live rounds of Type 06 ammunition, bringing the total to 300 rounds of live ammunition.

According to him, the two suspects were in police custody while an investigation was ongoing to establish the source and intended destination of the ammunition and identify other persons allegedly connected to the syndicate.

Hassan also added that police operatives from Makarfi Division, supported by local vigilantes, foiled an attack by suspected bandits on a resident at Gimi Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area, on 20 September.

He said one locally made rifle with three live cartridges, one locally made pistol with one live round and a bag containing charms were recovered from the suspect.

Similarly, Hassan said operatives of the Gwantu Division arrested another suspect, Jude Magaji of Ungwan Asibiti, on 21 September, following credible intelligence that he was allegedly in possession of a locally fabricated pistol.

He further explained that  Magaji was moving around the community, allegedly intimidating residents with the firearm, with the intent to commit an offence.

He said the suspect was in police custody while further investigation was ongoing to establish how he came into possession of the firearm and determine whether the weapon had been used in the commission of any criminal activity.

The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the police operatives and vigilantes for their prompt response and bravery.

He assured the people of Kaduna State that the Command would sustain operations against criminal elements and directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend all fleeing suspects.

The CP also urged members of the public to provide credible information to the police to support the fight against crime in the State.
