Police Arrest 49-Year-Old Man For Allegedly Stabbing Wife In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Balamau Lardi, 49 years old, of Kurnyi Tudu Village, Kurnyi District, Guyuk Local government area, for allegedly stabbing his wife with a knife.

The incident occurred on 23rd September, 2026, following a report received from the District Head and Village Head of Kurnyi, that the suspect stabbed his wife, one Biyagwal Balamau, 37 years old, on the left side of her ribs, resulting in grievous injury.

Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Guyuk Divisional Police Headquarters promptly mobilized to the scene, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.

The victim was immediately evacuated to a medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment and undergoing surgery.

The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, condemns in strong terms this act of Gender-Based Violence and has directed investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution.

The CP urges members of the public to adopt peaceful and lawful means of resolving domestic disputes and shun violence in all its forms.

The Command reiterates its zero tolerance for Gender-Based Violence and calls on the public to report all cases of domestic violence, assault or threat to the nearest Police Station or via the Command’s emergency lines.
