Police Arrest 5 Suspected Kidnappers In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested five members of a kidnap gang, operating in Ipapo, Okaka, and other communities in Itesiwaju local government area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Adewale Osifeso, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

Osifeso gave the names of four of the suspects as Umar Abubakar, Abdulkadir Sulaiman, Abdullahi Naira, and Isiaku Saboyaro.

According to the Oyo State Police image-maker, the suspects were arrested while sharing cash of almost N5 million which was part of the ransom collected from their victim’s family.

Osifeso added that the money and other items have been recovered from them.

“The suspects had on 26th June, 2025, attacked the residence of one Timothy at Mokorede Street, Ipapo where he was abducted and was later released after payment of ransom.

“The police and other sister security officers reportedly swung into action immediately and arrested five out of the six suspected kidnappers four days after the incident,” the PPRO said.

He added that the Command would ensure that the fleeing suspect, identified as ‘Wetti’, is brought to book.
