Police Arrest 6 Over Gunfight In Lamurde

The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating six youths arrested in a joint security operation aimed at preventing the escalation of the Chobo/Bachama communal tension.

The arrest followed gunshots heard around midnight behind the Cottage Hospital in Kunduli, Tingno in Lamurde local government area.

During the operation, the patrol team encountered a group of young men who verbally abused the security operatives and made provocative statements, prompting their immediate arrest.

The six individuals were subsequently handed over to the State Criminal and Investigation Department, Yola, for further investigation.

The arrested persons include Abiola Ayuba, Mark Yakubu, Yamauyinzin Elias, Gabriel Danladi, Yunarwe Barnabas and Japheth Agai,

The Police said investigations were ongoing to determine their involvement in the gunshot incident and any connection to the communal unrest.

The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankwambo, called on members of the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and to cooperate with security agencies as efforts continued to maintain peace in Lamurde and surrounding areas.
