Police Arrest 6 Suspected Kidnappers In Kaduna, Zamfara

The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended six suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms from the suspects.

The arrests followed coordinated operations by the Police across parts of the Kaduna and Zamfara States.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, the breakthrough was achieved through swift response to a distress report lodged on February 22, 2025.

DSP Hassan said the report was lodged by a resident of Ungwan Ninzom in Jagindi Tasha of Jema’a local government area, after his son, Hussaini Ibrahim, was abducted by gunmen.

Following the report, Hassan said police operatives from Kafanchan Division were mobilised to the scene and began a manhunt for the kidnappers.

He added that although the suspects initially escaped arrest, the victim was rescued two days later from a nearby bush with a gunshot injuries on his leg which was treated at a clinic and reunited with his family.

Subsequent, the PPRO said investigations led to the arrest of four suspects named as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30 years; Buhari Muhammad a.k.a. “General”, 31; Ahmadu Nasiru, 51, and Zakari Saleh, 50, all residents of Jagindi Tasha and Gidan Waya.

He revealed that police operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle and three locally fabricated versions from the suspects.

In a related development, and acting on credible intelligence, detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, led by CSP Sani Zuntu, intercepted a suspicious waybill on July 23, 2025.

The consignment containing a fabricated AK-47 rifle hidden in a sack, originated from Jos, Plateau State for delivery Gusau in Zamfara State.

“A follow-up operation led to the arrest of two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, in Gusau, where they had reportedly gone to receive the illegal weapon.

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” the Command’s spokesperson revealed.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved in both operations.

He assured residents that the Command remains committed to ridding the state of criminal elements.
