Police Arrest 8 Suspects Over Illicit Drugs In Borno

Borno State police command on Tuesday said it arrested eight suspects over possession and consumption of prohibited substance.

A statement by the Command’s public relations officer (PPRO) Kenneth Nahum Daso in Maiduguri, said in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, to intensify efforts against drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking, and other social vices across the State, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Anti-Social Vices Unit recorded the significant success.

He said on 1st June, 2026, at about 1420hrs, the RRS Anti-Social Vices Team conducted a targeted raid operation in the Bulumkutu and Dala areas of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), leading to the arrest of the eight (8) suspects for alleged possession and consumption of prohibited substances.

Daso added that during the Raid, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: Forty-six (46) capsules of Tramadol; Twelve (12) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp; and- Two (2) D5 tablets.

The PPRO further said that the suspects have been charged to court, while the recovered exhibits have been tendered as evidence.
