Police Arrest Man For Producing Fake Alcoholic Beverages

Police operatives have arrested a 45-year-old man, Chiemenam Adigwe, for allegedly producing fake alcoholic drinks in Bomadi, Bomadi local government area of Delta State.

The suspect, a native of Akpo community in Aguata LGA of Anambra State, allegedly mixed ethanol with water, added flavour to it and craftly packaged the products in empty bottles of other alcoholic drinks.

The suspect confessed that when he supplied to his customers, he would tell them he ordered the drinks from Onitsha.

According to the police, the suspect was caught on April 25 at about 11am after the command received an intelligence report that the suspect who was producing fake alcoholic drinks in Bomadi.

The state commissioner of Police, Abinanwonda Olufemi then directed the DPO, Bomadi Division to work on the intel and ensure that the suspect was tracked down, arrested and brought to book.

In compliance with the CP’s directive, the DPO Bomadi division led operatives to the hideout where the suspect was arrested with over one hundred bottles of the fake hot drinks.

CP Olufemi who confirmed this while parading suspects of various crimes in Asaba said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect committed the offence. He is in police custody while investigation is ongoing.”
