Operatives of 40 Police Mobile Force (PMF) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested one Gali Yunana, 31, for being in possession of an illegal firearm in Karim-Lamido local government area of Taraba State

The suspect, who is a resident of Munga Doso village, was caught with the firearm during a stop-and-search operation in Munga Lelau.

The spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, James Lashen Saminu,  in a statement he issued to newsmen in Jalingo, said the arrest followed intensified security measures in the area.

He said, “At about 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, operatives of the 40 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Jalingo, led by ASP Bitrus Benson, intercepted the suspect, identified as Gali Yunana of Munga Doso village, during a stop-and-search operation at Munga Lelau.

“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a British Beretta pistol with an erased breach number and two live rounds of ammunition.

“During interrogation, Yunana confessed that the firearm belonged to his late brother, Odoji Yunana. Police authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation,” he said.

The commissioner of police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, commended the operatives for their vigilance and assured the residents that the command remains committed to flushing out criminal elements from the state.

Kebbi NLC Vows To Retrieve Illegal Deduction of Worker’s Salaries

BY KABIR WURMA, Birnin Kebbi

The leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kebbi State has resolved to recover the Illegal deduction from the September salaries of the state’s civil servants.

The state’s NLC chairman, Comrade Murtala Usman, hinted of the plan when he addressed journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

He said the state government was annoyed with the action, and the governor has directed the union to retrieve all the amounts deducted from the workers’ salaries in September.

“Our union has constituted a committee to investigate how this unsympathetic action was done and ensure the retrieval of the deduction made by the unpatriotic officials,” Comrade Usman said.

“We are expected to retrieve about N14 million from the Illegal deduction,” he added.

The chairman, however, urged the affected workers to exercise patience as the leadership of the union would do the needful.
