Police Arrest Member Of Notorious Cult Gang Who Killed DPO In Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a member of a notorious cult gang, suspected to be behind the gruesome murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ahoada Police Division in Ahoada-East local government area of the state, SP Bako Angbashim.

Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police, was killed on September 8, 2023, during a Police operation against members of a notorious cult gang at Odiemude community in Ahoada-East local government area of the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara had immediately placed a ₦100million bounty on the leader of the gang, Gift Okpara, popularly known as 2Baba, while the Police officially declared members of the gang wanted.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, arrested member of the gang was seen trapped in a tyre and surrounded by policemen, who were questioning him on the killing of Angbashim.

Recall that the suspect was seen in another video posted about one week ago, brandishing an AK-47 assault rifle with fully loaded magazines in the forest alongside his group members.

However, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, has assured that the Police Command will furnish journalists with full details of the arrest of the suspect.
