The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old suspected motorcycle thief and recovered a stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle in Badawa Quarters of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, noting that the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the police on April 9, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Abdulhamid of Tishama Hotoro Quarters, allegedly stole a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number SRA 306 VF belonging to Rabiu Muhammad, a resident of Gezawa Local Government Area.
“Upon receipt of the report, Police officers were immediately mobilised for rapid response. The suspect was intercepted and arrested along Arewa Surgery by Ring Road in Badawa Quarters after being involved in an accident,” the statement said.
The police added that the suspect was taken into custody alongside the recovered motorcycle, while investigations are ongoing. He is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The commissioner of police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the swift response of officers involved in the operation and expressed appreciation to members of the public whose timely information aided the arrest.
Bakori also advised motorcycle and tricycle operators to exercise caution in handling their vehicles, warning that criminals often exploit carelessness to dispossess owners of their means of livelihood.
He urged operators to avoid entrusting their motorcycles to strangers and to ensure they park in secure locations.
