Crack detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, have arrested a notorious commercial taxi driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for alleged involvement in multiple cases of rape, defilement, assault, and armed robberies targeting female passengers across the State.

The suspect, who was recently featured in viral social media posts by some of his victims, was apprehended following a painstaking investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohunnire Jimoh.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspect was arrested on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 9:40 a.m. in Lagos.

“Subsequent to strict directives from the Commissioner of Police, crack detectives and smart operatives of the SCID commenced a detailed and discreet investigation into complaints from victims of the suspect’s dastardly acts,” she said.

According to Adebisi, the investigation led to the recovery of a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT allegedly used by the suspect to commit the crimes.

“The operational vehicle being used by the suspect in committing the offences was recovered from his possession,” she added.

Police said the suspect is currently in detention while efforts were ongoing to arrest other accomplices believed to be involved in the serial attacks. The recovered vehicle has been secured as an exhibit and will be presented during prosecution.

The Command called on other victims of the suspect to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation. “Their identities will be properly protected,” the Police assured.
