The anti-kidnapping unit of the Sokoto State Police Command, Wamakko Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes from Laini Village, arrested one Muhammad Damma Abubakar, a resident of Kamasu Village, Silame local government area for alleged kidnapping.

Police said the arrest followed actionable intelligence linking Abubakar to a 2024 kidnapping case involving three victims – Alhaji Garba Danbaba, Umar Ubandawaki, and Shehu Abubakar, all residents of Kamasu Village.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, disclosed that all the victims positively identified the suspect as part of the syndicate responsible for their abduction.

During a subsequent search, authorities recovered an AK-49 rifle and 13 rounds of live ammunition from the suspect.

DSP Rufai said further investigations were ongoing to uncover additional details about the syndicate’s operations and potential accomplices.
