Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom Command, DSP Timfon John, who disclosed this on Monday in Uyo, said the arrest was carried out during a ‘stop-and-search’ operation by operatives of the Command.

“At approximately 4:55am of September 6, 2025, a surveillance team on an intensive stop-and-search operation at the Nung Oku roundabout, located by Ring Road 3, Uyo, successfully apprehended a suspect.

“The individual, identified as Kufre Aniefiok Akpan, from Nkim village, Itam, in Itu LGA, was subjected to a search. The search led to the recovery of a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun, two live cartridges, and various items suspected to be charms.

“During interrogation, Akpan confessed to being an active member of the “Sky Low” secret cult,” DSP John said.

She added that investigations were ongoing to ascertaining if Akpan acted alone or in group, assuring that no stone would be left unturned in apprehending other gang members.
