Police have arrested two people suspected to be masterminds of the murder of the village head of Lambata in Gurara local government area of Niger State, Muhammad Abdulsafur.
The suspects were arrested at the Niger State High Court premises in Minna shortly after the case was mentioned.
Those arrested were Danladi Dashi and Musa Gajima and their arrest was effected shortly after they were discharged from detention for disrupting a court proceedings earlier.
The prosecutor handling the case identified them as part of the suspects still at large and took them to the criminal investigation department of the Niger State Police Command for investigation in connection with the murder of the village head.
Earlier, 12 accused suspects were arraigned before the senior magistrate court seven in Minna.
The case was further mentioned and the prosecutor requested for more time to complete the investigation and arrest other suspects still at large.
The senior magistrate, Fati Kabir, granted the prosecution’s request and adjourned the case to March 15, 2023 for further mention.
