Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said in a statement that the victim was rushed to the General Hospital Zambuk for medical examination, while the suspect remained in custody as investigations continue.

“Police visited the scene, rushed the victim to General Hospital Zambuk for medical examination, and arrested the suspect. Investigation is ongoing,” Abdullahi said.

The Command strongly condemned all forms of sexual violence and urged residents to promptly report criminal cases for swift action.

DSP Abdullahi added that in a separate case on the same day, operatives arrested a 18-year-old Hassan Aminu Sadiq, a wanted serial armed robbery suspect of Yelwa Quarters, Kwadon in Gombe metropolis.

He added that the suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Violence Squad for further investigation and prosecution.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in two separate armed robbery cases currently pending before the High Court, Gombe.

“The suspect and recovered exhibit have been transferred to the Anti-Violence Squad for further investigation and prosecution,” Abdullahi said.
