The indecent practice allegedly involving Bakare Opeyemi and his sexual partner Badmus Abiola, is said to have been going on for years now, until luck ran out of them on June 26, 2018, when law enforcement officers were called in at Felele layout, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

According to the interim police investigation report released by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Felele Division, Ibadan, Nigeria, and cited by our Reporter yesterday, the police division received information on June 26, 2018 at around 22:00 hours that Badmus Abiola and Bakare Opeyemi were observing an unlawful sexual relationship between them.

According to the report, following the information received, entry was made and the case referred for detailed investigation. The complaint which was made through a tip-off led to the investigation and arrest of Badmus Abiola who provided a confessional statement to the police that he is a sexual partner to Bakare Opeyemi, stating further that they were caught by his girlfriend in his house and Opeyemi was able to escape before the arrival of police.

“We declare Mr. Bakare Opeyemi wanted in connection with the violation of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013, which was passed on January 7, 2014,” the police said in a statement, while urging other security agencies to apprehend the fleeing Opeyemi.

The police statement said: “We hereby declare Mr. Bakare Opeyemi wanted for violating the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013. He was alleged to have engaged in homosexual practice with one Mr. Badmus Abiola who confessed to our agents after his arrest, that he had been having sexual relations with him (Opeyemi).

“Abiola was arrested on June 26, 2018 with the help of residents of his neighborhood who called and reported the case to the police. After much investigation and interrogation, he disclosed that Opeyemi has been his sex partner since their University days.

“Anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Mr. Bakare Opeyemi should please contact the nearest Police Station or law enforcement agency for proper prosecution,” the statement adds.
