Kano State commissioner of police Usaini Gumel has ordered a manhunt of those who stabbed an eight-year-old girl.

CP Gumel directed all police officers to use all available assets to ensure that the perpetrator(s) are brought to book soon.

Sources said they heard the cry of a girl from an uncompleted building at Kuregen Sani in Kumbotso and rushed to the scene where they met the girl in a pool of blood.

They said a sharp knife was stuck in her stomach, in addition to other injuries on other parts of her body.

The girl was rushed to the Mallam Aminu Kano Specialist Hospital where she was admitted.

Afterwards, the girl, Sharifa Usman of Gadon Kaya Quarters, Gwale LGA, while recuperating in the hospital, said the attack was by a woman in their neighbourhood identified as Fatima who took her from Gadon Kaya Quarters to the uncompleted building in Kuregen Sani Kumbotso and stabbed her with a knife on her neck, stomach, and ran away from the scene.

At the preliminary investigation, the husband of Fatima, Yusuf Aminu, was arrested.

He claimed that his wife had evidence of  mental disorder but was unaware of her whereabouts.

The suspect is undergoing investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Homicide Section.  The case would be charged to court upon completion of  investigation.
