The fraud was detected by the operatives of the Police Command through a trending CCTV video showing the yet-to-be identified lady with the victim at a commercial bank’s ATM gallery at Nnewi, the Anambra State’s industrial and commercial city.

In a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the lady in the trending video pretended to assist the physically challenged woman at the ATM gallery, but instead swapped the woman’s ATM card.

The PPRO said that the lady’s fraudulent act was discovered a few minutes after she left the ATM spot, when the woman started receiving debit alerts totalling N2million.

He said that the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has immediately directed him to contact the victim for necessary information that would aid the Command to track down the lady scammer.
