The Kogi State Police Command has inducted 565 newly trained combat-ready constables after an intensive weapons and combat operations course that commenced on April 13, 2026.

Speaking at the Police Headquarters Lokoja on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Nasir Kankarofi, congratulated the graduands for the successful training and induction.

He said the rigorous training was approved by the Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mr Tunji Disu, and delivered to produce agile, smart and combat-ready officers to tackle crime, banditry, terrorism and other vices across the state.

Kankarofi also commended Gov. Ahmed Ododo for his unwavering support to the Command during training and operations.

Kankarofi urged the graduands to remain dedicated, respect human rights, and practice community driven, democratic policing.

He also announced that officers who distinguished themselves during the training would be absorbed into the newly created Violent Crime Response Unit.

According to him, the unit will be an elite corps specialised in rapid response to violent crimes, which will be inaugurated soon.

The commissioner appreciated instructors, medical personnel, transport department and Police Mobile Force trainers for producing officers he described as “smart-looking and battle-ready.”
